Awards and competitions, other than the Stanley Gibbons Award, were founded in memory of former members of the Society.

Competitions

THE SYDNEY RAINE COMPETITION is awarded for a display of postal history (in its broadest sense). Entries are limited to a maximum of 9 sheets.

THE STANLEY GIBBONS SALVER is awarded for a display of stamps. Used stamps may be included, provided they are included as examples and not as illustrations of cancellations or other postal markings. Covers and postcards may not be included. Entries are limited to a maximum of 9 sheets.

THE LACEY CUP for SOCIAL PHILATELY. Social philately is defined as the study of social systems and products which derive from the operation of postal systems. Social philately exhibits may include material currently accepted in other philatelic categories, other material linked to the postal system being studied and collateral material relevant to the chosen social theme. Entries are limited to a maximum of 9 sheets.

GRINDALL CUP for OPEN PHILATELY. "Open Competition" entries can include combinations of philatelic material encompassed by any of the traditional categories or definition. The winner of this "Open Competition" will be decided by a popular vote of members present on the night. Entries are limited to a maximum of 16 sheets.

THE STEPHENSON STOBBS THEMATIC COMPETITION is awarded for a thematic display consisting of up to 16 sheets maximum. The exhibit should tell a complete story, illustrated by postage stamps, postcards and or postal history.

Awards

THE LA TROBE MEDAL is the Society's premier award for a display of stamps, postal history or both. It must occupy a full evening with a maximum of 120 sheets (including any maps or other associated material).

THE ARTHUR MANLEY CUP is awarded for Philatelic research. Judges will invite entries from members known to have carried out research and award the Manley Cup to the entry which is the most outstanding example of research, either original or in the form of an intensive study.
